The OLT is designed with a high degree of modularity and flexibility to allow for easy custumizing and adaptation to different measurement needs. The central unit of the system is the baseboard. It is equipped with several microprocessors and -controllers for a large variety of stimuli and measurement modes.
Each baseboard provides 32 independent control and measurement channels. For systems with more channels the number of baseboards has to be simply increased. This modular concept allows for continuous expansion up to high volume systems with a maximum of 250 baseboards, i.e. 8000 independent channels.
All control and measurement channels of the OLT are completely independent. They can be operated with different parameters and under different modes of operation. Different devices, e.g. with different size and layout, can be measured simultaneously in different sample holders. Furthermore, the test can be performed under different environmental conditions for each sample holder.
The control and detection channels of the OLT can be grouped according to customer requirements. This allows using the same system for research and development applications, where several devices on one substrate might be tested simultaneously and for production and quality control, where only one channel might be used for measuring a display or lighting device.
